The Literacy Effect

Hi, I’m Kasey.

I am here to help English Language Arts teachers create a year-long teaching vision that brings together the how (instructional practices) with the what (reading and writing curriculum).

Ready-to-Use Curriculum

When I became a literacy coach, I knew that all teachers wanted to use the best instructional practices and curriculum materials for teaching reading and writing. However, a few common pieces always stood in the way: time and figuring out how to make a great idea into a classroom reality. I quickly discovered that professional development and coaching had to be coupled with practical, ready-to-use classroom resources for change to occur. This is what inspired me to create year-long curriculums for reading, writing, and word study.

Real Feedback from Real Teachers

What are teachers saying about my reading and writing resources?

You know how you have an idea in your head, all the stuff is there, but it just can’t come out for some reason? This is exactly why my poor brain has been trying to do for the last year! Thank you so much for sharing this AMAZING resource with us. I absolutely cannot wait to dig deeper into it and implement it into my classroom this year. You just don’t even know!!!!! You rock, my friend!!!

I wish I could give this higher than an “A”. I am making the jump to middle school after years at the elementary level. I’ve been puzzling how to integrate word study and grammar without teaching in isolation from our novels. Thank you so much for creating this!

I am switching to seventh-grade reading after several years teaching high school English and am thrilled to have this incredibly organized resource. Having looked through the lessons, I feel I’ve taken a mini-course in reading intervention! This will give me some much needed guidance and direction. Thanks!
