They say a picture says a thousand words, so I will tell the story of my classroom from last year through pictures. Looking back, I remember the journey that I took last year with my 7th and 8th grade Language Arts students. A journey that shifted their thinking, as well as mine about what middle school students were capable of as readers and writers. The journey is told by looking at what our room looked like at the end of the year, knowing that when we started, it was a blank slate. Looking at the walls, parts of our learning journey can be seen. My windowless, old science classroom transformed into a Language Arts classroom tells a story all on its own.
